FAQs
Is Acupuncture or Holistic Therapies right for me?
Acupuncture and Holistic Therapies can support you with a variety of health concerns. However there are some cases where depending on your medical history or current health concerns it may be better to combine therapies or that an alternative practitioner is recommended if your concerns are not within my scope of practice. We will confidentially discuss your medical history, current concerns and your treatment plan will be based around this.
Are there any side effects to your treatments?
Acupuncture and Holistic Therapies are considered very safe procedures performed by professionally qualified practitioners who follow best practices and adhere to strict infection control policies. The BAF & ARA regulatory bodies hold a list of professional members. Sometimes there may be slight bruising or swelling in the areas that have been treated but this should resolve in a few days. Some clients note feeling sleepy after treatments and it is recommended to avoid strenuous activity up to 12 hours after treatments, in addition ensuring you stay well hydrated.
What can Acupuncture and Holistic Therapies Treat?
Common concerns/health issues I treat are - Emotional health - Stress/Anxiety Management, Chronic Pain, Migraines, Muscular, tendon and Joint Pain/Mobility, Skin Concerns, Hormonal Health, Energy and Fatigue related concerns, Digestive Health, Detox Ear Acupuncture (Nada Style Protocol) to ease cravings and supporting you in breaking free from habits or behaviours that are impacting your health. This is a guide and not exhaustive, if you are struggling with a particular issues/concern not listed please get in touch.
How Many treatments will I need?
That depends on your individual condition/concerns. Generally chronic illness takes longer to treat than acute conditions. Your age and general constitution will determine how soon symptoms may resolve. This will be discussed at your first treatment. Be aware there are some conditions/concerns that will take more than one session to resolve and it is not always possible to know this until I dig a little deeper. I offer treatments in blocks of 4-12 with regular reviews to check on progress
What Is Acupuncture?
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to balance the flow of "Qi" (vital energy). In TCM, Qi flows through pathways called meridians, and disruptions can lead to pain, illness, or emotional imbalance. By stimulating acupuncture points, the aim is to restore harmony in the body’s energy, supporting physical and emotional well-being. Commonly used to relieve pain, reduce stress, and treat various health issues, drawing on a holistic understanding of the body, mind, and the natural elements.
How will I feel after a treatment?
You may feel very relaxed and calm. Clients often report feeling sleepy. Rarely people can feel drowsy or lightheaded due to the reduction in Blood Pressure.
What should I wear for treatments?
We recommend you wear loose, comfortable clothing to enable easy access to the various acupuncture points. Towels and protective headbands will be provided when treatments involve using oils or products.
